This inaugural award will be held in conjunction with The Sculptors @ Crystal Lake event in April. Geraldine Jones the event coordinator said “Whispers are heard around town about the poets’ and yarn spinners’ preparations to enter the Spoken Word competition.”
These awards represent “Creativity at any Age“ and are in honour of Albert Victor (Bert) Davis who discovered at the age of 75, after retiring from dairy farming, that he possessed a talent for creating, memorizing and reciting spoken verse about his life in and around Macclesfield.
He also had an innate ability to remember and relate stories of his own life and those he heard from relatives and friends.
